General Bertrand was one of four friends who chose to share Napolons exile. The others were General Tristan de Montholon, General Gaspard Gourgaud and Count Emmanuel de Las Cases. After Napolons death, General Bertrand filled this box with souvenirs of the Emperor before leaving St. Helena.
