Petition to the Minister of the Interior
- 1799
Napoléon actively supported the arts and appreciated the art of engraving, commissioning numerous engraved depictions of his military campaigns. Here the great artists of the era, including Jacques-Louis David, François Gérard, Honoré Fragonard, Charles Percier, Pierre François Léonard Fontaine and Pierre Redouté request that the French state officially recognize the value of engraving.
