1 of a number of Georgian 18th Century and later letters - entires - documents - indentures - other paper ephemera - broadsides from the HOWARD family estate at Corby Castle in Cumbria. Also related letters - entires from other aristocratic gentry folks of the period too including the Duke of Norfolk & Duke of Beaufort.
Corby Castle is the ancestral home of the Howard family since 1611 when Lord William Howard, the third son of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk. Henry Howard added quite abit to the house in 1812 and a few of these letters relate to the building work. The Howard family are related to the Lawson family and that is why there are some later period items relating to their family too.
