ANTIQUE 1700s 18th C Early American DECANTER Blown in Mold Open PONTIL:
For sale is an Antique late 18th to early 19th century blown in mold clear glass decanter in great antique condition. Please see reference book for a late 18th century decanter in nearly identical form. This particular one features octagon body form with diamond dotted design on the top half and ribbed columns at the bottom, likely molded by Boston & Sandwich Glasswork. The base contains a polished pontil mark. Bubbles and minor impurities exist due to manufacturing process. These imperfections are a characteristic of early American glass. No damages of any kind is found.
The decanter measures approximately 6.5” tall with the stopper, and about 3” wide at the base. There is no chips, nicks, or cracks that I can find. Age appropriate wears and manufacturer imperfections (bubbles, swirls) are to be expected. Slight content haze near the bottom. Please check all photos for detailed condition. Overall, a wonderful and authentic late 18th century American free blown glass decanter. Rare to find!
