An authentic c. 1870 Navajo concho belt. This fine belt contains 5 large coin silver conchos and a beautiful silver buckle. The conchos measure 4.5\" x 3 1/4\" and the buckle measures 3\" x 2.5,\" and retains its original prong. The leather belt is not original but dates to about the 1930\'s. The leather backings on the conchos are all original. The buckle which as you can see retains its very old casting marks and hand repousse on the sides. This beautiful buckle was a replacement around 1890-1900 for the original harness buckle. The chisel work on the buckle is excellent as it is on the rest of the conchos. Total length from the buckle to the tip of the leather belt is 44,\" but will fit a waist of 28\" on up. We\'ve owned this belt in our collection for about 40 years and the 5th generation Zuni trader from whom we purchased it stated that it was purchased by his father, from a very early trader who stated the buckle was created by the belt\'s original maker from the 6th concho.
