Cover by Raeburn Van Buren. Stories and art by Raeburn Van Buren and Budd Sheppard. Confusingly, while numbered #2 on cover, this issue is listed as #1 in the indicia. The comic-strip adventures of city boy Slats, his small-town sweetheart Becky, and Becky\'s reprobate father \"Bathless Groggins,\" with exceptionally nice art by Raeburn Van Buren. Becky believes Slats has been killed when the merchant steamer he signed onto is sunk. But he\'s actually been shanghaied onto the ship called the Black Cat, far out at sea. Meanwhile, Becky joins a dance troupe in Hollywood to forget Slats. 32 pages, Full Color.
