Icon was sensitively restored approx 2015 by master restorer Martin Bould, London: old discolored was varish removed and replaced with fresh olifa varnish, and minor paint losses made good.
In order to maintain its antique patina, the icon background was left as original as possible, showing the Slavonic letter of the named saints and some remaining gold leaf background.
The wear to the background of the icons shows that that has been venerated for generations and is part of the history of the image.
Structurally, the icon is in excellent shape. The rear of the icon lacks the original wooden brace, but the board shows no sign of warping or splitting as can sometimes happen with antique icons.
The icon shows some signs of minor repainting on the edges. This wear is very typical of icons, and is usually due to being handled, venerated, kissed, and sometimes accidentally burned by candle flames.
The icon is probably a \'family icon\' commissioned to show the name-saints of family members. In this case, we have a priest or deacon holding a Gospel book, an Old Testament prophet with a scroll which contains a quotation from scripture, and a military saint.

These Three Saints have been at home in my \'icon corner\' for many years. I am reluctantly letting this icon go as I am reducing my icon collection due to a recent move.
