Highly important investment grade oil painting on canvas circa 1930. Painted by the well-listed California artist Edmond Francis Woods (1905 to 1990).This exquisite piece of art is a testament to the rich culture and heritage of Native American Indians. The frame itself measures: 26" x 20 1/2". The painting is: 20" x 16".The painting has been created with utmost precision and attention to detail, using high-quality materials that are native to the United States. Important Native American Indian painting portrait by Edmond Woods. Woods had studied under LeConte Stewart and later in the mid 1920s under Maurice Brown in San Diego, he continued his studies in Los Angeles at the Otis Art Institute and the Chouinard Art Institute. Woods settled in the San Diego area in Chula Vista. He was a student of the Southwestern Native American Cultures and documented their lives in his paintings. This painting depicts a handsome Native American Indian draped in a Southwestern blanket with a feather in his hair, the painting is signed "Woods" in the lower right. It is in the original gold gilded wood frame. Condition overall is great. Maybe two tiny areas of a paint chip, but, no big deal to the overall appearance.
