When we look at French sterling silver, we love finding items from Paul SORMANI, a luxury purveyor with the elevated stature of a USA Tiffany & Co., and on par with French makers, TAHAN, Vervelle, Giroux and a few others whose goods always were the very finest. This vanity set, traveler\'s valise is one such item. This one reminds me of the ones created much later on by LV, too, and in fact when we do research we have found that some of the earlier sets have leather cases contracted out to the famed LV company. I don\'t know that for sure on this one, but it is in the tradition of those that the later LV ones evolved. The set you see here is quite complete, missing only brushes. It is complete enough to still have the traveler\'s inkwell which we don\'t see much beyond 1910. Seven crystal jars/boxes with silver plated caps (no, oddly in this one they are not sterling silver), and all have their stoppers and are in fine condition without breaks. A gentleman\'s case, it has 2 razors among the other vanity items. And you can see the quality evident in the leather sheath into which those items are fitted. The clothing brush and a pull-out mirror complete this fine set.

Very good to excellent, you are only missing the brushes (excluding one clothing brush with boar bristles). A very nice leather case shows the only wear evident in this set, really. And it does show its age as you can see, and yet is lovely. Some wear to the leather at folds, corners, and at the leather self-hinge area of the inner lid, though sturdy enough for another 100 years. Perfect to populate a movie set, or your dressing table. And you might even want to take it along on your own Grand Tour, or at least a weekend at friends\'.Our photos are large and clear. Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
