Antique PAIR French Gilt Crystal Glass Stars Candle Bobeche Drip Collar 19thC

This is a rare pair of French candle drip collars / bobeches. They are made of crystal or glass, and have been hand cut. The hand cut stars have been gold gilt, creating a beautiful effect. The gold stars are on the bottom, protecting them from candle wax wear. The stars were often seen in designs around the Empire and Charles X period, around the first part of the 1800s.

They were probably made around 1820-1840, in France.

Dimensions:

Diameter: about 3 inch or 7.7 cm

Center opening: about 1 inch / 2.5 cm

Condition:Good antique condition, some minimal wear and patina to the gilt finish, see the photos. a few very tiny fleabites around the openings and edges. *Flower in the first photo is not included.
