For sale is a wonderful circa 1800s full plate tintype a photograph of a firefighter in full fIrefighting uniform and leather helmet.

This firefighters helmet has been identified as Manchester New Hampshire which can be clearly seen on his helmets tall shield badge. There is also wording on the very top of the badge but we cannot make it out. See pics.

He stands in poise for the photographer next to a highly ornately carved piano looking just off to the right of the viewer with a very piercing gaze.

CONDITION:

Damage to the center of the tintype mostly being in the figures torso, the face being clear and undamaged as is the helmet with identifying badge. Minor fading to the area that was not behind the mat. Some bending rippling on left side away from image. Was once framed in oval frame. Apparently damaged while stored away with object on top or facing down for many many decades before rediscovered.
