This offering is for a Civil War Bowie Knife reproduction (new) with a D-guard. This is a must havefor the serious Civil War knife/sword collector as it was an integral tooland weapon for the Confederate forces.During the early days of the War, Confederate soldiers carried these very largeknives, many of which could have qualified as short swords. They were oftenmade from old saw or scythe blades.

The knife offered for sale is typical ofthe Bowie knives of the period. Measuring 14 3/4” overall with a clip pointblade almost 10”, it is a formidable weapon. The 1 3/4” wide stainless steelblade is quite sharp and capable of cutting through underbrush and smallsaplings just as the soldiers did during war years. The handle grip is craftedfrom hardwood which is also in keeping with the period and the leather belt sheathoffers safe housing for it when not in use.
