Jacques Cartier Elephant Car Mascot ca 1925

A fantastic original nickeled bronze car mascot by Jacques Cartier circa 1925. This is from a series of animal form car mascots he did at the time, this one is the elephant. The elephant itself measures about 4 1/2 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches wide. On the base the overall size is about 9 inches tall and weighs about 9 pounds.Described in the book of “Mascottes Automobiles” by Michael LeGrand Page 193 Plate 686. “JAQUES CARTIER” is marked on the base.

*** In trying to respond to someone's questions I reached out to the prior owner of this car mascot. I was told that he had upgraded the base to the marble base and that the original base was the wooden one shown in the last photo. I got that base and it will be included with this lot as well. Now you have a choice, small wood base or large marble base.
