RARE Vintage Original 1953 Smokey Bear Tree Stringed Cardboard Poster Michigan
\"One careless match...Yours?\"\"Remember - Only you can PREVENT FOREST FIRES!\"
INFO: Very unusual, genuine and original Smokey the Bear poster from 1953. This is a \"PRE-STRING\" cardboard poster for tie mounting to trees and poles! The poster measures 18 1/2\" x 13\" and is a stiff thicker waxed paper (halfway between cardboard and posterboard), which allows it to bend for tree and pole mounting. The double sided waxed finish also protects it from the out-of-doors weather. There are 4 grommeted holes, 2 on each side, with the original strings still attached to two of these. The strings measure about 40\" long. In my 66-yearlifetime, I\'ve never seen one mounted or for sale, and I\'ve been in this collecting business for about 30 years. It is New Old Stock (NOS), has never been displayed or used, was not stored in premiereconditions, but has survived well considering.

CONDITION:Excellent condition! (Please forgive some of my photography on this one, as the light reflects wildly on the glossy waxed surface) Fabulous vivid color! Grommets, holes and strings are excellent! There are no noted crease bends or creases, nobent corners, no tears or soiling. The wax facing is excellent on front and back. The upper left corner is slightly curled,and the bottom 4-5 inches is curled up some, but lays flat when pressed down. It shows little or no dirt and has no stains anywhere. The back side is excellent. Darn nice poster for its age and being stored in a garage attic for almost 70 years!
