This is a rare (steam era?) aluminum whistle post sign from the Southern Railway, featuring their unique "long long short long" signal instead of the standard "W" found on other whistle posts. It measures about 36" x 12" and weighs about 10-12 pounds. This is a perfect item to add to your railroad signage collection. I'm not an expert on the Southern but I believe this sign dates to the late steam era.
