US Army PUNITIVE EXPEDITION WW1 M-1904 HOSPITAL CORPS BOLO 1904 DATED W/ SHEATH:
US Army medics in the early 20th century were issued the classic M-1904 hospital corps bolo, which featured a round tipped blade (inaccordance with theGeneva Convention) to cut tree branches for splints and litters. This US Army PUNITIVE EXPEDITION WW1 M-1904 HOSPITAL CORPS BOLO is in very good condition, with some nicking to theblade tip, some sharpening to the blade edge, a small chip in the middle blade edge, some cleaning, scratching, pitting, and patina at each side of theblade, some light obscuring to the markings at each side of the ricasso, the initials \"W.K.S.\" scratched into the left side of the handle, some scattered scratching, scuffing, chipping, and hairline cracking to thehandle, and with some scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the bolo is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a hefty 11 7/8\" round tipped blade that was factory left \"in the white\", sports the classicbrass \"S\" guard, and is simply marked at the ricasso with the date, \"1904\". It\'s \"U.S.\" stamped with serifs at the reverse ricasso, along with the low serial number \"2570\", boasts an elegantone piece walnut handle with integral finger grooves and a screwed in brass pommel cap,and though is unmarked as to its maker, all of these early 1904 dated examples were produced by Springfield Armory. It\'scomplete with the original US Army WW1 M-1904 Hospital Corps Brown Leather Scabbard in goodcondition, having shrunk a bit over the years, resulting in a 3/8\" gap between the throat and guard, and with some overall drying, crazing, scratching, scuffing, spot darkening, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it bears the classic darkened brass reinforced throat, carries a beautiful rigger modification at the top reverse, with thetraditional Krag style metal swivel hanger having been removed and a darkened brass mounted wirehanger having been added, and is lightly stamped at the upper back body with its maker, the famous \"ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL\", along with the date, \"1911.\". It exhibits a brass grommet at the end tip, and the set is a fine example of a very rare, originalUS Army PUNITIVE EXPEDITION WW1 M-1904 HOSPITAL CORPS BOLO.With apologies to our valued international clients, we must restrict offerding to USbuyers only. Now celebrating over 20 years on . offer with confidence and please view our other great military, aviation, and sporting classics, includinga pair of very rare, originalUS Navy WW2 GUADALCANAL SEABEES 1ST PATTERN HBT COVERALLSin excellent condition, bearing the name \"C.A.
