Regale gates from production to installation, thought to be commissioned by Alexander III around the year 1884 bythe famed foundry of Franz San Galli on the patterns of Friedrich Melzer Furniture Studios (according to online research).

These were the gates that the Bolsheviks stormed in 1905 and stood when the Provisional Government removed the Romanov’s iconic double headed eagles and monograms in 1917.

Monogram in at least one photo clearly reads A / II (Alexander II),a mistake or homage.Also, these photos show a Byzantine style cross over the crowns rather than the traditional Christian cross included in the recent restoration.

(4) images in total, two remain pasted to black scrap and two freed. Trimmed to 8 x 10\", 7.25 x 9.25\" and 7.75 x 9.75\".

Loss to gloss in several places (occurs on margins and corners, none interrupt subject) with wrinkles and soft creases.

Edge tear has been stabilized with archival tape, worthy of full restoration. Please see photos and ask questions.
