Vintage Bacchus Putto w Goat Scheibe - Alsbach Figurine Germany Dionysus Mythology.

Amazingly detailed vintage figurine! Research tells me this is a Kister sometimes referred to as a Scheibe - Alsbach figurine based on location of factory in Germany. This was a hard piece to date as I was having trouble finding information for this maker. I was able to narrow it down to being made between 1925 and 1972 based on the mark on bottom. Please be your own expert!

If research serves correct this figure represents Bacchus as the Romans would call him or Dionysus as the Greeks referred to him. A Putto or cherub like figure rides upon a goat while holding his golden wine glass high. He wears a wreath on his head made of what appears to be grapes and grapevine. Also draped around his waste with a spotted loin cloth of some kind. Goat has his tongue out and front hooves in the air as if he too is ready for the festival. Again please be your own expert as I am not knowledgeable with mythology :)

Figurine appears to be in great preowned vintage condition with only the most minor wear consistent with age. No chips or cracks found. Bottom edge of base may have some tiny "flea bites" but nothing of significance. See photos. I want to mention a light colored dot on tip of ear of goat. Feels like a small spur but possibly a fleck of glaze has come off. See closeup photo.
