    Great Format for History

A great way to teach history to kids who need visual’s to relate to the story. It appears that the graffic novel is the way to relate to kids today. I bought Maus volumes 1& 2 for my grandsons to read and they are reading them. While we are not Jewish, I feel these books have a valuable lesson for all.

  • "Maus" a great book

Perhaps this book is best appreciated by family members of those who have been enslaved in military prisons or those who are Holocaust survivors. Although the book deals with a father who lived through the horrors of Nazi extermination camps and the effect his parenting had on his son, the experiences shared may be enlightening for many members of the Baby Boom generation. I could identify directly with many of the author's growing up with contradictory, fear-based and angry experiences. My father was a "slave of the Japanese Empire" aka a Prisoner of War taken by the Japanese during the fall of Bataan in the Phillipine Islands early in World War Two. His traumatic experiences became my lessons for life and living as i grew up. The book is written in comic book format which ...

  • Great Book

Was excited to get this book, expecially after it has been banned in some schools. What is wrong with this world. If a book is banned, it is time to buy it and pass it on.

  • An original and moving story which teaches about the cost of hatred, and the value of love.

This book isn't really a "comic" book. Although people of all ages can read and gain value from it, it is really more like a diary. Very personal, heartbreaking, and, at times, humorous. Whether you know nothing about the Holocaust or are a dedicated student of it, this book will teach you a lot.

  • Quasy moving

The story gives you an odd feeling. I suppose that's obvious since it is a holocaust story told with mice. Reflecting on it, I realize that it is a powerful, moving story about the human condition, but reading it one has trouble feeling that because it's hard to feel for mice. But on some level I'm sure that was the author's intention.
