Napoléon’s farewell to Pierre de Montesquiou

In this letter, Napoléon bids goodbye to Pierre de Montesquiou, Grand Chamberlain of France, before signing his abdication and departing for Elba. He wrote it on April 14, 1814, the morning after his suicide attempt.
