This is a beautiful andFine Antique Old Master 19th c. Virgin Mary Madonna Icon Oil Painting on wood, depicting a lovely portrait of the Virgin Mary, wearing a blue shroud and surrounded by a luminous and ornate gold halo. Her portrait is surrounded by clouds, and she looks down and away from the viewer with a benevolent and hopeful expression. Signed at the lower edge of the Madonna's tunic: "Marearet." I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about her or her work? Approximately 16 3/4 x 20 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 12 1/2 x 15 3/4 inches. Good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the gilded frame (please see photos.)
