From Wikipedia: Carlotta Patti(c. 1840 – 27 June 1889[1]) was a nineteenth-century operaticsopranoand sister to famed sopranoAdelina Patti. Various sources list her birth year as 1835,[1]1840,[2]and 1842.[3]Born into a musical family, Patti studied thepianoin her youth before following her younger sister\'s inclination toward singing. As a child, Carlotta developed a handicap which caused a noticeable limp in her walk. Due to this condition she mostly avoidedoperaticperformances and preferred to sing on theconcertstage. While not able to achieve her sister\'s level of acclaim, Carlotta nonetheless received top billing in concerts in theUnited States of America,Great Britain, andAustralia.[1][3]She was known for her extensivevocal range, reportedly being able to reach a G sharp inaltissimo.[4]She often sang songs such asDer Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzenthat highlighted this extensive range.[1][5]Carlotta Patti died of cancer in Paris on 27 June 1889.
