Animator Preston Blair\'s classic \"Red Hot\" dancing girl gets reimagined as a stylizedUncle Tom\'s Cabincharacter Little Eva, in this very funny (but \"politically incorrect\") 1947 short, directed by the great Tex Avery. In this full-figure 12 field 3-peghole animation drawing, we see Little Eva singing by Uncle Tom\'s piano as he fools around with a tune that turns into a hot boogie-woogie melody.
The art is in graphite with superb red and blue pencil highlights, and an approximate overall image size of 4\" x 7\". The number 18 is written in the lower right corner. Everybody loves Red Hot! Condition is Fine, with very slight handling wear.
Plexiglas, acid-free Linen museum-quality matting, will keep this piece safe for many years to come. The frame size is roughly 16 x 14 inches.Has some condition issues. Recommend replacement of the frame only.

Preston Blair(October 24, 1908 – April 19, 1995) was an Americancharacter animator, best remembered for his work atWalt Disney Productionsand theMetro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio.

At Disney, Blair animated cartoon short subjects,Mickey Mousescenes in \"The Sorcerer\'s Apprentice\" section ofFantasia(1940), and the hippo-alligator dance inFantasia\'s\"Dance of the Hours\" sequence. He also did some work onWalt Disney\'sPinocchio(1940) andBambi(1942).[1]

Blair left Disney after the1941 Disney animator\'s strike, and was hired to work forTex Avery\'s unit at MGM. There, he became particularly known for animating thetitular female characterinRed Hot Riding Hood.\"Red\"later re-appeared in more Avery cartoons, includingSwing Shift Cinderella,Little Rural Riding Hood,Uncle Tom\'s Cabanaand theDroopycartoonsThe Shooting of Dan McGooandWild and Woolfy, with animation by Blair.
