This specialty match holder is nickel plated, with tiny spots of agingto the plating on the back side. Overall, the surface is shiny with light surfacescratches from pocket wear. The bottom has a small oval, 3-dimensional diagonalpattern raised corrugated match striker on the bottom edge. This piece has roundedcorners on all 4 sides. About 2 1/8\" tall x 1 3/8\" wide x 1/2\"thick and is heavy for its size at 1.1 ounces or 32 grams. The top has adovetail hinge at the side and is not wiggly when open (does not move side toside), and the interior spring closes the top properly. This style match safewas favored by gamblers and sporting gents. The 13/16\" diameter brassrimmed dice cage is inlaid into the front and has a black felt background. The3 tiny dice are about 1/8\" square, are handmade from natural material, andtherefore slightly irregular: with hand applied ink for numeral markings. Thedice roll inside the cage freely and the tooth like protrusions help spin thedice. As expected, the surface ink is slightly worn on the dice from normaluse; but these dice appear to be in good condition. Most of the glass tops ofthe dice cages are cloudy and dark. However, this piece is fairly clear withexpected surface pocket scratches. I found one small shallow hard to noticeding to the top hinge corner but can be seen when rotating in the light. Note: Itis very difficult to photograph a shiny, curved, reflective object, and theimages are much larger and exaggerate the details.

This piece is in very good used condition overall. This would beperfect for any smoker, Match Safe, Vesta, Tobacco, Saloon collector, Bar room,Gambler, or Sporting gentleman\'s display; and could still be used today.
