This charming vintage, retired piece from 1996 depicts Nice Old Father from China, model SC-23 in The International Santa Claus Collection.
Nice Old Father is extremely detailed and beautifully painted with vivid colors!
The box tells of the legend of Nice Old Father and how the Christmas tradition is not normally associated with Chinese culture but as the world interacts further, aspects of culture and traditions from other places of the world have been combined with Chinese culture and traditions. The closest thing to Santa Claus in Chinese lore and legend is Nice Old Father, who provides special gifts in colorful stockings that the children make. Instead of trees and wreaths, Chinese holiday decorations have more lanterns and other light-producing ornaments, like fireworks.
This figurine shows Nice Old Father dressed in a mandarin hat and shoes with the traditional upturned toes and carrying his own Chinese lantern to light the way. He is also carrying a colorful stocking filled with toys and presents.
The figurine of the Nice Old Father does not show any signs of damage, chips, or scratches.The original box shows very minimal wear and is still structurally sound. The figurine is protected by bubble wrap inside its 3.75\"x3\"x5.25\" (LWH) box.
