An EXTREMELY RARE1908 William Howard Taft Presidential Campaign Jugate Badge, Featuring Vice President, James S. ShermanSCARCE 1908 William H. Taft / James Sherman Delegate badge from the day Taft announced his presidential campaign tour/rally schedule. This badge is in near mint condition. It measure 5.5\" long and has a bit of weight to it (in comparison to other badges). The hand-picked successor of Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, an able administrator but poor politician, would not otherwise have been the Republican nominee in 1908. Despite having only nominal support from the party, he won handily over the perennial Democratic candidate William Jennings Bryan. When in office, he bowed to the party establishment, appointing conservatives to key posts and blocking reform legislation. His actions alienated progressives, including Roosevelt. This original Taft/Sherman campaign jugate badge features a portrait of the president and vice president. Item Details: This badge is in NEAR MINT condition and will be a fantastic addition to upgrade any collection large or small. This badge measures 5.5inches long.
