Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov(22April 1870 – 21 January 1924), better known asVladimir Lenin, was aRussian revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. He served as thefirst and founding head of government of the Russian Soviet FederativeSocialist Republicfrom 1917 until his deathin 1924, and of theSoviet Union from 1922 until his death. Under his administration, Russia, andlater the Soviet Union, became a one-part socialist stategoverned by theCommunist Party. Ideologically a Marxist, his developments to the ideology arecalled Leninism.
