This listing is for the 1930 THE PIERCE ARROW TROPHY from the 9th Annual Hartford Calvary Horse Show in 1930. It is a great Figural Rare trophy / award from the deco era, and reflects this in its style. It is also extremely realistic in regards to the horse figure, with much painstaking detail in its design. It is engraved by hand with a fantastic font to the script which adds a little extra air of fanciness to it. I have not been able to find much information about the piece, however I believe it is related to the Governor’s Horse Guards of Connecticut. According to the Guard’s official website, during their history; “Troop B regained its status as mounted cavalry as part of the reorganized 122nd Cavalry Squadron, and through the 1920s and 30s sponsored polo matches, mounted drills, gymkhanas and horse shows.. The highlight of the Governor’s annual review of the National Guard in Niantic was often the mounted drills and thundering charges on horseback by Troop members.” Due to this, I believe this trophy is of one of those sponsored shows. It is likely one of a small number of surviving items from these shows, making it a fantastic rare item for collectors of Horse related items, historical memorabilia/ militaria, trophies / awards, and much more!

It is in good vintage, nearly antique, condition. It is made of solid metal. It has some light wear, but no major scratches. It is missing its tail, but this could be replaced potentially. It has one ear cocked as if listening for a command, I believe this is intentional and not it being being from bumping. I have not seen any other major damage to the piece. It is not marked by a maker, or otherwise dated beyond its engraved inscription.
