"Powerhouse Candy Bar ". Powerhouse began in 1927. The Walter Johnson company in Chicago (4500 W. Belmont). Ownership changed to Williams around 1962, and to Peter Paul in 1971. Powerhouse was advertised in LIFE Magazine in the 1940's, and the ads, in comic strip form, had readers think that eating the bars would add muscles and become stronger, like steroids. Powerhouse candy bars haven't been available for purchase anywhere for nearly 25 years, as Peter Paul stopped manufacturing and distributing them around 1985-1986.Measures: 10" long X 6.5" wide X 3 1/4 tall (inches).
The label says: "more POWER to America! America's biggest. America's Finest. America's favorite candy bar. Cartoon character says: HEY! HEY! WHAT D'YA SAY! HI! HO! WHAT D'YA KNOW! GET YOUR POWER HOUSE CANDY BAR". Nice Chicago area historic artifact!!! Not many surviving examples - makes this a very rare historic museum quality artifact worthy of care & preservation.
