COFFEY, ALFRED . Col. Coffey, Texas A&M Co. B, class of 39, volunteered for duty upon graduation and was sent to the Pacific as an Infantry Officer. While in service for his country, he distinguished himself as a great Aggie and a great soldier by being awarded the Silver Star, The Bronze Star, and The Purple Heart, among many other notable commendations. In addition to attending the War College, noteworthy assignments during Col. Coffeys\' long and illustrious 32-year career includes two tours at the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba once serving as Assistant Military Attach and once by special request of the Cuban Government, TDY assignment as aide to General Mathew Ridgeway, two tours with the Inter American Defense Board, Washington D.C, the Inspector Generals Office, Washington, D.C and the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, serving as Military Attach. While serving in Bogota, Col. Coffey was honored to be entrusted to step in for the Defense Attach
