Palestine-cities-Jerusalem-Biblical ScenesThe so-called \"Garden Tomb\" outside the wall of Jerusalem is studied by a visitor. This small tomb gives pilgrims an idea of the size of the tomb in which Christ was buried. It is built into the rock of a garden. It is a small burial place, with room for only three bodies. Inside visitors could sit, looking into the burial chamber, as was customary in the time of Christ. This tomb was discovered in 1882. Many believe that this is Christ\'s actual burial place, from which his body had disappeared on the day of Resurrection, the first Easter. But historians find little evidence to support this theory. The accepted burial spot is in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher inside Jerusalem. But since it does not look like a tomb, visitors go to the Garden Tomb to re-create the biblical scene in their minds, and to the elaborate Tomb of the Kings to see a stone such as that which sealed Jesus\' tomb.
