Dr. Albert B. Sabin, professor of research pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and fellow of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation, developed the oral live-virus vaccine against poliomyelitis, which is known throughout the world as the "Sabin Vaccine." Dr. Sabin is shown here in his laboratory. Dr. Albert B. Sabin, the researcher who developed the oral polio vaccine named for him, has joined New Orleans' KO Polio drive leaders in emphasizing the need for persons of all ages to obtain "Round Two" of the vaccine on Sunday. In a telephone interview from Cincinnati, prior to his departure for West Berlin to receive the Robert Koch Memorial Award, Dr. Sabin said he had hoped to be in New Orleans to watch the second phase of the KO Polio program here.Photo measures 8 x 10.25inches.
