Pair of tourist class breakfast menus from the NorddeutscherLloyd Line S S Bremen from May 1934. Menus are in German and English withdifferent color headers. Bremen was built in 1929 for the trans-Atlanticservice. Prior to WWII, she was assigned as a barracks ship. On 16 March1941,Bremenwas setalight by 15-year-old crew member Walter Schmidt while at her dock inBremerhaven and completely gutted. A lengthy investigation discovered that thearson was the result of a personal grudge against one of the ship\'s officers,and was not an act of war. Schmidt was later guillotined for the arson,becoming one of the youngest people to be judicially executed by the regime. 5¾” x 9 ½” and single sided. Mild general wear and one is printed closer to thebottom edge than the other. Clean.
