Top of Mickey\'s head and ears is black velvet and the black base is a hard plastic. The bottom of one of the shoes is missing because the seller also added an A.C. adapter and the bottom had to be removed to apply this and over the years it has been misplaced, but the piece lights easily without that piece. With the AC Adapter you do not have to run down as many batteries if you like to have it on as a night light. Look closely at pictures. Jf Wlm
