I frequent local sales and estate sales up and down the East Coast where I pick up lots of fun old stuff and list almost all of it on . DESCRIPTION:Vintage litho postcard, postmarked Chicago, August 19, 1911, four days after Johnstone was killed. The message on the back was written by a sender who was at the show and witnessed the fatal crash. All items guaranteed vintage and authentic - no reproductions or reprints. \"St. Croix Johnstone (1887-1911) was an early US aviator who died in a tragic aeroplane accident in 1911 at the Chicago International Aviation Meet. A Chicago native, Johnstone was a chaeuffer before becoming an aviator. His father tried to discourage him from taking up flying. He died at the same Chicago Air Meet that William R. Badger crashed at. Johnstone flew a Moisant monoplane, an American version of the Bleriot XI built under license in the United States. At 500 feet Johnstone plummeted into Lake Michigan and drowned.\"

CONDITION:Minor general wear, no heavy creases, rips, or other damage. Displays very nicely.
