A rare Georgian style antique Whale oil lamp clock
Made of pewter with a polished pewter finish to its knopped stem,loop carrying handle and saucer base. Its clear handblown glass oil reservoir/flask,is screw mounted onto the stem and includes a small hole at its base to allow the oil to dampen its wick (no wick present). It is mounted in two pewter straps,with one side being marked with roman numerals from 5pm to 7am,signifying each half hour of oil burnt. It measures 13 1/2\" or 343 mm high x 5 1/4\" or 133 mm wide. Its suitable for use as a decorative item or for lighting up a room using citronella oil or lamp oil and is definitely a conversation piece.Condition: In good antique condition.Small scratches,dings,cuts commensurate with age and usage.
