Antique French clay water/ wine jug with arched handle, circa 1890-1910. Beautiful neutral buff colored glaze. Bottom portion remains unglazed, as was the style.
Used to keep liquids cool during a worker’s long day, often these were partially buried in the cool soil while they worked, to ensure a refreshing drink.
In very good antique condition showing age appropriate wear and evidence of use. These pieces were used daily over many decades, so wear is part of the charm. A nick here or there adds to character.
Small chip to spout as photographed, but structurally in very good shape. Please review all photos for an accurate depiction of condition.
