Antique Wave Crest Box Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this beautiful Wavecrest hinged glass box. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This box has cherub and landscape decoration on the lid and additional landscape decoration on the front and back. This piece has goldtone metal rims with a hinge and a clasp closure. This piece stands approximately 2 3/4 inches tall, and it is about 4 1/8 inches long and 3 1/8 inches wide. Unpacked, it weighs 9.4 ounces. This would be a lovely addition to a collection of art glass. Identification
This piece is marked beneath, as shown. Per Kovels, Wave Crest glass was manufactured by the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and also by some French factories. The pieces were decorated by the C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden, Connecticut. The name "Wave Crest" was used after 1898. The exact age of this antique piece is not known. Condition
This piece looks very good overall, with no chips or cracks. It has light wear. The goldtone metal mounts have minor wear and tarnishing. The hinge works and the box closes securely. The interior satin lining to the box has frayed and worn, as shown. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to offerding or buying. Terms of Sale 1. Payments
