Sarsaparilla is a company that reproduced Frankart lamps for many years, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s. Amongst the lamps they offered was this Art Deco style night lamp. This particular lamp offered for sale is unique as it has a reproduction of Frankart’s iconic seated nude nymph in polished metal. Unlike the Sarsaparilla reproductions, however, this lamp actually has the original Art Deco glass shade from the 1920s that Sarsaparilla reproduced for their own lamp model. The Sarsaparilla reproduction shades are signed Sarsaparilla Deco Designs. In this lamp for sale, there is no signature and is the original Art Deco shade of the period. I don’t know how the figure and the base were mated; perhaps the Sarsaparilla glass was damaged and a past owner found an original shade to replace it. The combination results in a very unique lamp with the original glass shade. The design is very simple. These particular nymph figures have an angled piece on the base as part of the casting that allows them to sit horizontally on the shade. So practically, the nymph figure is a finial with additional hardware that allows it to have a socket and bulb attachment. The lamp is turned on and off by an inline switch on the electric cord.

As shown in the pictures, the mating of the blue shade with the polished metal is a great combination. The glass shade has wear on the original paint that was applied to the glass back when it was made in the Deco era. Besides the wear, there are some chips that, with the paint wear, are typical for glass of this vintage.This shade has 3 small feet allowing the electric wire to slide under it. All of the wiring appears to be new and up-to-date, so it’s ready to be plugged in and enjoyed.

The lamp will be wrapped in satin paper, bubblepack and cardboard and shipped with styrofoam peanuts.The shipping charge is for insured USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail (we recommend Priority Mail for faster shipping, although it is higher in cost). We do not charge for handling or packing materials. We do not offer local pickup.
