For sale is this beautiful polished half of an ammonite fossil. Ammonites were shelled cephalopods that existed in ancient times, long ago. Fossils of them are found all around the world, and are commonly collected by enthusiasts. This particular piece is only half of the once complete piece. The fossil has been split to showcase the beautiful internal chambers of the shell. The surface that was cut has been polished to reveal the intricate inner workings of the piece, including beautiful crystal formations. These internal chambers are called septa and the ammonite could fill them with air in order to float through the ocean like a balloon. please study the photos carefully so that you have a good idea of size, condition, and appearance.
