ANSONIA CAPITOL WALL CLOCK

BROWN MAHOGANY or LIGHT WALNUT CASE

TIME ONLY MOVEMENT, RUNNING

Ca. LATE 1800s-EARLY 900s

THIS is a guaranteed genuine antique Ansonia wall clock, their \"Capitol\" model. The case I believe is brown mahogany, possibly light walnut. I believe (but cannot guarantee) that the finish is original. It is missing two finials, on the lower left and right. The pendulum, hands, and face are original, though the seconds ring may be an old replacement. The center of the two-piece dial pan was detached when I got it, so I soldered that back in place; unfortunately, I let a little solder drip onto the front, but it is not very noticeable. The paper dial does have some fading, as the photos show. Like many clocks of the era, it was available with either weight-driven or spring-driven movements. This one is spring-driven. I assumed it was an 8 day movement, so I had been winding every week--until two weeks ago. I let it run; and it ran 18 DAYS on a single winding! And I think I lacked about one revolution or a little less on each spring when I would it. I believe this model was manufactured from the 1880s until sometime in the early 1900s.I completely disassembled the movement, cleaned it, polished the pivots, reassembled it, and lubricated it. It is currently running well, and keeping good time. Although running, I sell all mechanical and electrical devices in \"AS-IS\" condition. This is because old items like this can easily get broken or out-of-adjustment in shipping. You still have an inspection period of 30 days during which the item can be returned for any reason for a refund of the purchase price only--however it must be returned in the same condition in which I shipped it, meaning if there is damage, an insurance claim must be made. Keep in mind this is a very long clock, some 52 inches, so it will be expensive to ship.Should there be a problem with your purchase, please contact me directly through the mail system. I can and will do the same things directly that I would through , and probably more quickly.

!

MY PLEDGE TO YOU: no surprises! I will provide high-resolution scans; I will fully describe each item, obverse and reverse, positives and negatives, possibilities, likelihoods, what I suspect, and which is which; and I will provide as much historical context as I can. Now, I believe that the only people who never make mistakes are those who never say or do anything, so consequently, there will be times I am wrong. There, you are covered by my guarantee.

MY GUARANTEE TO YOU: I guarantee each item to be genuine as described. After you receive your purchase, you will have a 30 day inspection period; and if you are dissatisfied, simply return the item (in its original condition) for an immediate refund of your purchase price. Furthermore, if in the inspection period, you decide to send the item for expertizing, I will extend the period until its return from the expert of your choice. If it returns with an opinion of not genuine, or of being significantly different from how I describe it, I will also reimburse you for the expertizing fee. And the ONLY exception to my guarantee is that I am not responsible for mishandling by the mail system, and any damages incurred therein. That is what insurance is for, and it is automatic on this item.
