Selling an exceptionally beautiful speculaas mold either from the Netherlands or Germany. The seller I purchased this board from received it from a friend in Germany. She told me the wood was fruit wood, and a kind person on messaged me late last year to tell me they believed the wood was pear and early 1800's, likely 1820. The board is quite heavy and the wood is uncommonly smooth. The kerbschnitzerei or chip carving shows brilliantly. It's a work of art!
Dimensions; 24 inches long; 1 1/4 thick; 4 1/4 wide; characters are 3.5 to 4 inches tall and include birds, lion, elephant, cattle, man riding chicken, dog, goat and sheep
I've owned a lot of springerle and speculaas boards over the years, this piece is for an advanced collector.
