EARLY RARE 1900s JOHN RANGE & SON CHICAGO ADVERTISING PREMIUM SHOP BRUSH
I purchased this wonderful collectible at an estate sale of a professional woodworker/carpenter who died in his 90s about 20 years ago. The wooden brush features a detailed carved ad for this old Chicago-based business and two-toned natural animal bristles. What a super rare and cool piece for anyone who collects Chicago-related memorabilia or advertising premiums.
I couldn't find out much about this business, except references and old ads for the flour and coal trades from 1911, 1913, and as late as 1921. But the brush itself tells a lot about this company: We brush aside all competition. John Range & Son Coal, Western Ave, and 24th St. Phone Canal 72. Hay, Straw, Cleaned Oats and Corn, ChicagoJ. Dukas operated on the west side of Broadway, between Worth St. and Leonard Street. The last photo (photo not included) shows their name on the second floor, far left.
