Antique 1920s Adirondack Backpack Trapper Basket 17” Tall w/Canvas Strapping:

Early 1900s (circa 1920s) woven split wood slat basket. I believe the wood is oak or ash. Has rivets and metal adjusting buckles to the woven canvas strapping. Stands 17” tall and the top is 12” across with a 10.50” opening. Lots of wear to the bottom; the reed strapping on the top is loose in one place and a few slats are broken in a few places. Has lots of patina, some dirt and some rust/corrosion to the metal. I think it’s in amazing shape for its age and being actually used in the woods camping. This belonged to my grandmother who used it while extensively hiking the Adirondack Mountains for decades. I’ve used it for the past 25 years as decor next to my brick fireplace. Perfect for Fall decoration with branches and leaves or greenery for Christmas. Looks awesome with Primitive style, Farmhouse style, Cabin or Lodge look. I’ve filled it with thin white birch bark logs. It has so much patina and character! Please see all photos.
