From family estate.
Was originally from house of a relative who moved to West Hartford near turn of century. This then hung by fireplace on west coast from 1960 until about 15 years ago when it was boxed and stored.
Can't tell if this is cast iron with some sort of coating or some sort of cast pot metal. Appears to be the original coat of paint and artwork but I am just not sure of history or originality. I am not an expert on antiques so the assessment is just my opinion. Has the old, dusty patina as it sat many years ago. Has stamped patent date of Jan 16, 1867.
About 7½ top to bottom. About 5 inches widest span.
