Antique 699 slant GRISWOLD w/ ERIE ghost mark #6 Cast Iron Skillet Flat Restored:

   Offered is this Griswold Mfg. Co. cast iron skillet with slant logo and inset heat ring, circa 1909 to 1929 (reference found on page 12 of The Book of Griswold & Wagner, blue book). The mold used to cast this pan was transitioned from an earlier Slant / ERIE mold, and a light impression of the earlier ERIE mark can be seen between the PA., and the U.S.A. The pan bottom is boldly marked with an impressive large slant GRISWOLD logo, size no. 6, pattern no. 699, CAST IRON SKILLET / ERIE PA., U.S.A., all within a raised inset heat ring. The top base of the handle is also impressed with its size no. 6.

   Condition: The inner cooking surface has considerable rust pitting and utensil marks. The outer surface has no pitting. This pan has been thoroughly cleaned by electrolysis and  the surfaces baked seasoned with vegetable shortening. The pan bottom sits flat, with no no rocking or spin. There are no chips, cracks, rust or repairs.
