Antique ANRI Italian wood carving of a Msn with a Top Hat -

Dimensions are ; 8 3/16" high , with a base measurement of 2 5/16" X 2 11/16" X 1 15/16" . Material is painted wood. This small wood carving was created within the last 112 years in the Italian Alps at ANRI , a company founded in 1912 by Josef Anton Riffeser , the son of Alois Riffeser , who traveled countries in Europe selling wood carvings acquired from a small village in the Alps. Riffeser , who spent time in a POW camp during WW l brought on carvers from different locales and stewarded the company to considerable success. His family still runs it today. This piece is of a rather portly gent in 19th century clothing , replete in cravat , top hat and cane and grinning broadly. It is hand carved as all ANRI works and there is a sticker on the underside of the base identifying that it is a genuine ANRI carving ( see photos ).
