Antique American Pewter Covered Sugar Bowl, \"LEONARD, REED & BARTON\", c. 1835 - 1840. This is a idded sugar bowl with two handles and an octagonal shape to the body. The lid on the top is removeable. The sugar bowl is marked, \"LEONARD, REED & BARTON 3000\". This mark dates from c. 1835 - 40. In \"GUIDE TO AMERICAN PEWTER\" by Carl Jacobs, he identifies the mark as Gustavus Leonard, Henry G.Reed & Charles E. Barton from Taunton, MA.. The firm was formed in 1835 and was together until 1840 when Mr. Gustavus Leonard left the firm and then died in 1845. On the death of Mr. Leonard the present firm of Reed and Barton came into use.
