Here we have a American Civil War era folding knife, unusual and rare….

This knife is heavy at 10.6 ounces, the blade is 6,5 inches long , knife is 14 inches long when opened, the knife is 7 and 5/8ths inches fully closed. Handle has matching scales made of wood, nice looking with some age wear , long smoothed over.

I am not sure what the pins are made of, they are brass in color, see photos. The bolsters are mostly or entirely non-ferrous, though there is so much steel in the blade that it is difficult to get the magnet to just test the bolster without being pulled hard onto the pins or blade. A beautiful old knife, extremely long.

This knife purchased from trusted antiques sale house, in lot of mostly 1800’s knives and tools. From a collection of early American objects, well curated.
