Up for sale is a gorgeous cobalt blue pony soda bottle dating to around 1865. It's a cylindrical squat form with a sloping neck and applied round blob top. It's embossed only at the front, "C. & K." in hollow block letters, below that "EAGLE WORKS" and below that "SAC. CITY" for Sacramento. It's smooth based. I believe these were blown at an East Coast glass factory and shipped out West to California for usage out there. It's 7 3/8" tall and 2 1/2" in diameter at the base/body.
It's in really good dug condition with heavy sickness/stain and general ground wear, iridescent in many spots. It was buried a long time and it shows it. Remarkably however, there is not any damage to the glass itself besidesa funky burst bubble/fold around the "I" in "city", it's shaped like a check mark or something and picked up extra mineralization therethe surface staining - no chips or cracks, just a couple smoothly patinated manufacturing foibles including that burst bubble area. It gives it an extra crude vibe. Not serious damage ultimately but it's a bit crusty all around, I will leave any cleaning decisions up to the buyer, it's certainly a good tumbler candidate.Satisfaction guaranteed, if you're not in love after handling it in person I'm happy to accept returns.
